As a product manager, most of my time goes into documentation, scoping, and tickets.
My raw thinking is honest, but usually messy and all over the place. AI helped me shape that into clearer output, but the first phase was rough.
I started with ChatGPT, then moved to Claude. Better models and better structure made results more consistent. But I was still wasting time copying context between apps and trying to pick up where I left off.
The writing improved. The handoff stayed broken.
Agent workflows changed that. Once my docs and tools were connected, I could continue work in place instead of rebuilding context from scratch every session.
Mistakes that improved my process
- I treated each chat like a fresh start.
- I optimized wording before clarity.
- I gave AI freedom without enough constraints.
What I do now
- Dump rough thoughts first.
- Ask AI to structure scope, acceptance criteria, and action items.
- Keep final judgment on trade-offs and priorities.
The real trade-off
- Upside: less copy-paste, faster docs, clearer tickets, better momentum.
- Downside: automation can hide weak assumptions if I skip review.
The real upgrade wasn’t just a smarter model — it was killing the copy-paste tax so I can ship better decisions faster.
