If AI is replacing engineers overnight, why are AI companies still hiring engineers so aggressively?
That question changed how I see this whole debate.
I don’t think AI means “no more jobs.” I think it means jobs are being re-shaped faster than usual.
And honestly, that part is normal. Process changes. Tools change. Scope changes. That has always happened in tech—with or without AI.
What AI changes is the speed.
Some tasks will absolutely get automated. But new work keeps showing up right beside it:
- designing AI-first workflows
- verifying model output before it reaches customers
- integrating tools into real business operations
- making better decisions with faster feedback loops
You don’t need to understand every model architecture or every new agent framework to stay relevant.
You just need one practical habit: find ways to improve your workflow with AI, one step at a time.
That might mean:
- drafting faster
- reducing repetitive admin work
- improving quality checks
- freeing time for higher-value thinking
Adaptation isn’t optional. But it is learnable.
Start small. Iterate. Keep shipping. That’s already a step in the right direction.
